National Patient Experience Survey Results 2023/24

169 surveys were completed out of the answered questions our practice list consist of around 5660: -

First impressions of care received.

82% of patients felt they were always or usually listened to with 17% feeling they were sometimes listened to.

72% answered that for them it was not applicable to be able to speak Welsh to staff, 7.9% felt they could always or usually speak Welsh to staff if needed, 2.9 % felt they were never able to speak Welsh to staff if they needed to, the remainder did not answer.

From the time patient realised they need to use the service: - 62% felt the wait was shorter than expected or about right, 24% felt it was a bit too long and 13% felt it was much too long the remainder did not answer.

The place where you received care.

78% of patients advised they felt well care for by the practice, 16% felt they were sometimes well cared for and 3.7% felt they were never well cared for, the remainder did not answer.

60% of patients felt they got assistance when it was needed usually or always 23% felt they received assistance sometimes and the remainder felt it was not applicable.

Equality Monitoring

Age: - 57% of surveys were completed by patients over 45, 42 % of patients were under 45, the remainder preferred not to say.

Gender: - 65% of surveys were completed by female, and 0.59% noted other on their questionnaire, 31 % were completed by males the remainder preferred not to say or did not answer

At birth 32 % were described as male, 63% described as female, the remainder left the question unanswered. 

65% of patients felt they had limitations of day-to-day activities due to a health problem or disability that limited day to day activities, 33% advised of no limitations, the remainder preferred not to say or did not answer.

85% of patient described themselves as heterosexual or straight, 1.7% as gay or lesbian, 1.7% as other, the remainder preferred not to say or did not answer.

51% of patients described themselves as having no religion, 34% as Christian, 3.4% of patient preferred not to say, one person was of Muslim religion, the remainder preferred not to say.

Understanding & Involvement in care

72% of patients answered that they understood what was happening in their care usually or always, 18% advised they understood sometimes, and the remainder did not answer.

81 % of patients advised they usually or always felt things were explained in a way they understood 17% advised they sometimes, one patient advised things were never explained in a way they understood, the remainder of patients did not answer this question.

 

83% of patients answered they were involved as much as they wanted to be in their care usually or always, 15% answered this as sometimes 1% patients marked that they never were involved as much as they wanted to be, and the remainder did not answer the question.

 

The Overall  Experience                

Overall Experience – 85% of patients rated their overall experience score of 5 or above with 11 percent of patients rating their care as 5 or below, one patient answered zero, the remainder did not answer the question. (0 is very bad and 10 is excellent)

80% of patients answered they were thinking of the experience they had with the practice in past 6 months when completing questionnaire, 12% between 6 months and 1 year ago, 6 % over one year ago the reminder did not answer this question.
